Fill-in placeholders

Use placeholders so one macro asks for a name and adds the date automatically.

  1. Placeholders let one macro fit many replies. This macro uses [$PROMPT:Name] to ask for a name and [$DATE] for the date.

A macro body containing the PROMPT and DATE placeholders.
  2. In a reply box, type the hotword, here .update.

A reply box with .update being typed.
  3. Makro stops at [$PROMPT:Name] and asks for the name. Type it and press Enter.

The Makro prompt asking for a name.
  4. Once the name is filled in, keep typing to finish the reply.

The expanded reply with new text added at the end.
  5. The name and today's date are in place, and the reply is ready to send.

The finished reply with the name, the date and the added sentence.
